Paula Abdul Blunder Says American Idol Rigged?
The celebrity gossip news and American Idol blogosphere is rife with comments about Paula Abdul blundering over her lines, making it seem like American Idol is in fact rigged. On the American Idol Top 5 performance show that was rushed through with each of the 5 remaining contestants having to sing 2 Neil Daimond songs, (I feel so sorry for them) things went stir crazy.
After all 5 had sung their first song, the judges had to give their general critique at one shot. Randy Jackson delivered his lines almost as perfectly as he pretended not to know Carly Smithson who had a record deal with the now defunct record company MCA that Randy Jackson was VP.
When it came to Paula Abdul’s turn to give her critique, she said of Jason Castro: “Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear, um … The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn’t — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty. The two songs made me feel like you’re not fighting hard enough to get into the top four.”
At this point, the camera cuts away hastily to a long shot of the stage where a nervous Ryan Seacrest could be seen looking off stage, probably to the producer for leads on how to stop crazy Paula from blabbering further.
Fortunately for Ryan, the task of steering the Paula runaway train back onto its tracks fell onto Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell and Paula tried to cover her mistake by saying her second comment was actually for David Cook. Anyway, by this time everyone’s confused and Simon Cowell got the cue to take over with his critique that was spot on as usual.
