Fantasia’s Frightful Performance On American Idol
What has become of Fantasia former American Idol? With a flaming red crop and less than graceful movements (to put it mildly), she gave a grotesque performance on American Idol Top 3 Results show with a frenetic, near maniacal song and dance number that had Simon Cowell transfixed in horror. This is one time I wish there was a judges’ critique for the performance – what would they have said?

This is the first time I’ve ever “blogged” about anything but I have to say I was blown away by that performance. Yeah, Fantasia is no Beyonce but damn that was a crazy performance. It was like James Brown back from the great beyond with blazin’ hair. To the average Idol fan, it probably was scary but it was the most REAL moment I’ve seen in a few seasons of the show. While D. Cook bites every rocker cover of crappy tunes and D. Arch croons to middle age women a la Michael Bolton in training, Fantasia’s performance was simply outstanding, Idoler or not.
I have to agree with danimal7010; I don’t know what the judges thought of Fantasia’s performance but I thought it was smokin’! For the record, I am a suburban, Christian, white lady in my late forties and after seeing this I would actually buy tickets to one of Fantasia’s concerts. That was the highest-energy, most exciting performance I’ve ever seen on American Idol.
Her performance did look scary when I first saw it on TV cos it was not the Fantasia that I expected from her AI days. But now looking at her performance again, I do agree that she was very entertaining and definitely a very energised performance!
