American Idol Season 8 Big Plans And Big Changes

The dust has barely settled after the David Cook is American Idol 7 winner final results show, American Idol producers are already making plans for next year’s American Idol Season 8. Although American Idol 7 ratings have been about off by 10% throughout the season, producers blamed this on the Hollywood writers strike and the Democratic Party’s primary race which was aired at the same time as American Idol.

The American Idol final results show recovered with a 7% increase over 2007. According to Times Online, American Idol is thought to earn at least $500 million (£253 million) a year from advertising and sponsorship deals, with 30-second slots during the final selling for $780,0000 each.

Show creator Simon Fuller promised radical changes for American Idol 8, with rumours that a fourth judge might be hired to join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.
