Michael Phelps To Promote Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes

This is the Michael Phelps Sports Illustrated cover. Compare it with the Mark Spitz cover of yesteryear. Michael Phelps is now officially the greatest Olympian swimmer ever winning 8 individual gold medals beating Mark Spitz’s previous record of 7 gold medals at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
But before the adulation has died down, controversy has surfaced with the announcement that Michael Phelps will be endorsing Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes instead of the traditional athlete’s choice of Wheaties. Frosted Flakes has three times the amount of sugar as Wheaties and 1/3rd the fiber.
Phelps is now being criticized by health experts who are worried about the message he’ll be sending to children across America. Nutritionist Rebecca Solomon of New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center says, “I would not consider Frosted Flakes the food of an Olympian. I would rather see him promoting Fiber One. I would rather see him promoting oatmeal. I would even rather see him promoting Cheerios.”
Hey, even Olympic champions need to make money right. The hell with health concerns!
