New Judge For American Idol Season 8 Revealed

Kara DioGuardi

Here’s the new judge for American Idol Season 8. She’s songwriter and producer Kara DioGuardi and according to FOX, she’s worked with A-listers in the music industry including Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera.

She will join existing American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul on Tuesday for the New York auditions of the upcoming season, which will air on FOX in January 2009.

The idea to get an additional judge for the upcoming American Idol Season 8 was revealed several months ago: American Idol Season 8 big plans and big changes.

Is Paula Abdul less than thrilled that she won’t be the focus of attention as being the lone female judge anymore? “I haven’t spoken to her. I would think she’d be excited,” DioGuardi said, noting that she and Abdul collaborated on the Kylie Minogue hit “Spinning Around” in 2000.

What kind of judge will she be? “I’m a little nervous,” admitted DioGuardi, who said her approach to judging is simple. “I’m going to be a straight shooter and say it like I see it and maintain that philosophy.”

Having four judges seems like a crowd to me. How are they going to deal with tie-breaking?
