Paul McCartney Performs In Israel After 40-Year Ban

Paul McCartney In Israel

40 years after The Beatles were banned in Israel in 1965 by a conservative Israeli government for being a bad influence on youths, Paul McCartney put on a historic concert in Israel with a 40,000 strong audience.

Paul McCartney also visited historic places such as the Church of Nativity. A staggering 1.5 million pounds was spent on security involving over 5,000 personnel to ensure his safety following a death threat by an extremist group.

Not even President Bush received this level of security when he visited Israel.

Said Sir Paul, “The world knows about the conflicts that have been in that region and I like to think that if I go to a place it becomes evident that my message is a peaceful one and I hope that the idea will spread.”
