Celebrities Reactions To Obama Win

Here are some celebrities’ reactions to Obama’s win. Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was one of Obama’s earliest supporters who first saw him at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 - “something stirred in me, and I believed in that moment that he would run for president.” During voting, she told ABC News. “I had this moment where I wanted to start singing ‘America the Beautiful’ … it was emotional for a lot of people all day today. This is democracy at its finest.”
Hillary Clinton said, “Tonight, we are celebrating an historic victory for the American people. This was a long and hard fought campaign but the result was well worth the wait. Together, under the leadership of President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and a Democratic Congress, we will chart a better course to build a new economy and rebuild our leadership in the world. And I look forward to doing all that I can to support President Obama and Vice President Biden in the difficult work that lies ahead.”
Courtney Cox and hubby David Arquette hosted a Barack Obama victory party Tuesday night at their Beverly Hills home that was attended by Jennifer Aniston, Sacha Baron Cohen and wife, Isla Fisher.
George Clooney released a statement, “I congratulate President-elect Obama on his historic victory, and now it’s time to begin unifying the country so we can take on the extraordinary challenges that this generation faces.”
Usher wasn’t quite as official sounding. “Isn’t this incredible news?” he told Access Hollywood. “Man, this is incredible. It’s so incredible to see that this historical thing has happened, man. Before it was a thought of what happens if he doesn’t win. The public service that went into this and the encouragement that came out of it, it’s just incredible to see it happen.”
Madonna led thousands at her San Diego concert to sing Express Yourself, saying at the song introduction, “This is a historical evening! … We are lucky to be sharing it with each other!â€
Beyonce offers to perform at Obama’s inauguration, “I’m there. I can’t wait. I feel like all of us, we’re ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want — if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there, and I’m ready.”
Scarlett Johannson said in a statement, “I’ve always maintained a strong faith in the power of Obama’s positive campaign and am so proud of every citizen who took a stand, participated in the political process and insisted their voices be heard,†Johansson said in a statement.
John Mellencamp posted on his website saying he never thought he’d see the day when “a man of color could be president of the United States. But today I am so proud of America.â€
Lindsay Lohan who was rebuffed when she offered to campaign for Obama, writes in her mySpace page, “OBAMA IS OUR PRESIDENT!†and said that everyone who voted, “no matter their choice … should be proud for voting in the first place.â€
Kayne West, whose mother died a few months earlier, wrote in his blog, “HI MOM, OBAMA WON!â€
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a John McCain supporter on the TV show The View said, “I will jump in that line and support our president because that is what as an American I believe we should do.â€
Joe The Plumber, real name Samuel Wurzelbacher who became an unexpected overnight sensation after being referred to over 20 times during the final presidential debate, said during The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, “Hey, the American people spoke. They elected Barack Obama as our president and our new Commander in Chief, and I’m behind that 100 percent.”
Sarah Palin who was pretty much the media hogger during the presidential campaign, told supporters in a phone call at an event at the Multi-Use Sports Complex in her hometown of Wasilla, “I am neither bitter nor vanquished but very confident in the knowledge that there will be another day.”
I hope that doesn’t mean she intends to run in the next election.
