The Real Designer Of The Victoria Beckham Collection

The Daily Mail has speculated that the real designer of Victoria Beckham’s dresses is Roland Mouret – a mild mannered Clark Kentish lookalike French designer.
Victoria Beckham launched her new collection of dresses last week and drew positive critiques from established designers in the fashion industry. She said, “I really had to prove myself … But now I feel like I am competing in an arena where I belong. I was so nervous because this has been a lifetime in the making,” insisting that she alone was responsible for the designs.
Last night, Victoria’s PR team admitted she is using the same seamstresses, pattern cutters and fabric makers as 45-year-old Mouret who created the Galaxy dress – the hour glass silhouette that harkens back to the glamour of 1940s Hollywood.

They said, “Roland set Victoria up with his pattern cutter and also introduced her to his fabric suppliers. The seamstress atelier in Battersea was introduced to Victoria via Roland – they are a couture atelier looking after many London-based designers. There is no secret Roland has helped Victoria set up various aspects of her atelier in London … He did visit Victoria’s studio to see how she is getting on with her new collection and to congratulate her on this week’s launch.”
However they also insisted that Mouret had “absolutely nothing to do with the creative process.”

Fashion insiders say that “There have been a lot of comparisons between the dresses and when the collection launched people were picking up the Mouret dresses and Victoria’s and comparing them.”
Victoria Beckham herself has confessed that she did not actually draw any of the dresses, saying, “Do I draw? No. Then again, nor do lots of designers. But I put it all on myself and walk around in it, and I know what feels comfortable. I know how a dress should sit.
I’ve worn so many in the past and when I see the photographs I think, crikey, my boobs are up round my neck again because the corsets are too short and not cut high enough.”
A source from Mouret’s office said, “It’s been a bit of a joke as to how much Roland has been involved. The similarities between the dresses are undeniable. The fact that Roland has been so hands-on has been kept a tightly guarded secret until now. We have all been convinced that Roland and Victoria must be in some kind of a business arrangement.”
The similarities run even into the tags that the dresses come in. Both look strikingly similar – you’d think Victoria would have them changed completely but apparently there’s been an oversight here.

The management agency run by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller who represents both Victoria Beckham and Roland Mouret were not able to confirm if there is indeed a business arrangement between the two.
