American Idol Criticized For Bikini Girl Showoff
The highlight of the American Idol Season 8 debut was Bikini Girl, Katrina Darrell who came for the audition in Phoenix, Arizona in a barely-there bikini. When asked why, she said, “I came dressed in my bathing suit to American Idol because, first of all, I figured it would set me apart from the crowd, and secondly because I heard it was a crazy audition process and I figured, well, at least I’ll have a tan.”
Plus she had an attitude to go with that bikini too, nearly getting into a cat fight with the new judge Kara DioGuardi who told her, “Honestly, you don’t have the chops to sing that song, sweetie,” Darrell shot right back: “But your demonstration wasn’t any better.”
Some viewers feel that this segment was in bad taste and only degraded the family show. TMZ reports that Darrell is a model and judging by her show reel, “the skank bit is no act”.
