2009 Oscar Nominations
There are some snubs on this year’s nomination list for the Oscar awards, although some are not exactly surprising. The Oscars traditionally favor holocaust and intense drama films over action, comedy and animation genres. Wall-E and The Dark Knight were favorited in other awards leading up to the Oscars but Wall-E was B-listed with a Animated Feature nomination while The Dark Knight only secured nods in the technical categories – Art Direction although the late Heath Ledger garnered the expected Best Supporting Actor nomination which Hollywood gossip rumors started buzzing when the movie first came out.
Other films that some feel were robbed are Doubt and Revolutionary Road both of which received Best Picture awards or nominations on the road to the Oscars. A heartening note is that Milk received a nomination. Kate Winslet was snubbed for Best Actress in Revolutionary Road while Cate Blanchett was ignored for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
