Ugly Betty Cancelled?
This is some ugly Hollywood rumor – ABC has pulled its popular TV show Ugly Betty from its regular timeslot, prompting rumors that the show will be cancelled soon. This despite multiple wins in past and recent awards with the latest haul at the SAG Awards just yesterday.
Reports say this is to bring back Christina Applegate’s Samantha Who? and launch a new comedy called In the Motherhood, starring Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines, in the Thursday 8 p.m. slot.
However, a statement released to Entertainment Weekly on Monday states, “Ugly Betty will return to Thursday nights at 8 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?
“The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats.”
Let’s hope this is true!
