Ball of light in the sky

A bright ball of red-yellow light with a green-yellow tail was seen streaking across Singapore skies yesterday evening at around 7.40pm. Many people from different parts of the island reported seeing it with at least one person managing to video capture it on his cellphone. The ball of light was low flying and noiseless and gone in 10 seconds.
A newspaper editor who holds a pilot’s licence and has flown military aircraft before, described it as “spectacular” and “more dramatic than Northern Lights we witnessed in northernmost Alaska.” He did not think it was any kind of jet aircraft. President of Astronomical Society of Singapore, Albert Lim says the green light is a “fireball” – which is a meteor that is bigger, brighter and burns more than 10 seconds. He did not say if he saw the light himself to arrive at this conclusion.
UFOs have long been sighted way before cameras were invented. Renaissance painters regularly incorporated UFOs into their masterpieces, such as the ones below.

“The Annunciation with Saint Emidius” (1486) was painted by Carlo Crivelli (1430-1495) and hangs in the National Gallery, London. It shows a bright disk-shaped object beaming a light onto praying Mary’s head.

Left image is a 14th century tapestry depicting the life of Mary. It hangs in the french basillica Notre-Dame in Beaune, Burgandy. A classic hat-shaped UFO is seen in the background. Right image a painting by Aert De Gelder entitled “The Baptism of Christ”. It was painted in 1710 and hangs in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. It shows a disk shaped object beaming down light on to Jesus and John the Baptist.
