Danny Gokey sang “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie from the movie Endless Love for the American Idol Top 7. Danny is always choosing boring songs and this week is no exception, plus he is incapable of bringing a fresh POV to his songs even though he tries that by bringing a harpist on stage with him.
Paula thinks Danny used the wrong key for the song, saying it should have been lower. Simon says, “We know you are a brilliant singer, but I’m disappointed that we had the harp on stage and a traditional version.” He then brought up the example of how David Cook was able to revitalise a tired song, “Hello” by Lionel Richie last year.
