Susan Boyle Is Runner Up Dance Group Wins Britain’s Got Talent
Dance group Diversity beat crowd favorite Susan Boyle to win Britain’s Got Talent. She was runner-up. Diversity is a 10-member dance group that Simon Cowell said that is the only performance he would give a 10 to, that it was “sheer and utter perfection”.
Diversity won the $159,000 grand prize, plus the opportunity to perform for Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety Show, says the Associated Press.
Susan Boyle reprised “I Dreamed A Dream” – the song that made her famous overnight and managed a heartfelt performance despite having faced tremendous pressure in the weeks leading up to the finals. See Susan Boyle To Quit Britain’s Got Talent?.
She said “I want to thank people at home, the people in the audience. Everybody,” and that the pressure last week was “well worth it”.
Piers Morgan showed his support by saying, “I’m not supposed to favour anyone, but you know what? Forget it.
“That to me, was the greatest performance I have seen in this competition. You should win it.”
Amanda added: “You did it for Scotland and you did it for Great Britain.”
And Simon Cowell was impressed with her bravery: “You could have walked away from this, and you could have had a lot of stuff coming your way in America. You had the guts to come back here tonight, face your critics and you beat them. Whatever happens…win or lose you can walk away with your head held high.”
