Madonna’s Stage Collapses: 1 Dead 9 Injured
The roof of a stage that was being constructed for Madonna’s Sweet & Sticky Tour in Marseille, France collapsed, killing 1 and injuring 9 workers reports UK celebrities gossip news rumors site DailyMail.
Madonna broke down in tears during her concert in Italy where she paid tribute to the worker killed.
The Queen of Pop said she was ‘devastated’ to hear the news while she was rehearsing for last night’s performance at the Fruili Stadium.
Stopping the concert she told the huge crowd in tears: ‘I ask you for a moment to stop and think of the people who have lost their lives, we need to appreciate life, the people we love and our families.’
The disaster led to the immediate cancellation of Sunday’s planned sell-out performance by the 50-year-old star.
The dead man, a 53-year-old French stagehand who has not been identified, is believed to have been hit by lighting and emblems due to be suspended above the temporary stage.
Two people, one British and one American, were severely injured in the accident, and are now in a critical condition.
