Simon says he wasn’t rolling eyes at Virginia Tech condolences

simon.jpgSimon Cowell has clarified that he wasn’t rolling his eyes in response to contestant Chris Richardson’s condolences to the families of the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. He wasn’t listening to Chris but was talking to Paula and rolling his eyes at what Chris was saying previously, that “nasally” is a form of singing in response to Simon’s criticism of his “nasally” vocals.

As it turned out in the editing room, Simon seemed to have rolled his eyes when Chris offered condolences. Simon told TMZ that he was horrified when he watched the show back and saw what seemed to have happened. I think not even Simon can be that cynical when something like a senseless massacre happens.

The judges had collectively issued a statement during comments for the last contestant with Simon saying that they were also sad about the tragedy. It seemed so strange to suddenly switch from commenting on the singing to offering condolences, and then after that just as abruptly continuing with the comments on the contestant.

I think Simon was rolling his eyes because he felt that Chris was going for votes for saying what he did.

I agree with Judy. I was puzzled why Chris suddenly sent his condolences to families of the VT victims’ families while he was in the middle of answering Ryan’s question on Simon’s comments. The immediate impression I got was that he wasn’t sincere about it and was trying to get more votes.

He most likely said it because he is from Chesapeake, VA and went to Great Bridge High, where a lot of graduates leave from to go to Virginia Tech. Hence, he most likely had a lot of friends at Virginia Tech and it hit close to home. Dumbasses.
