So long, Sanjaya - it’s been fun

It finally happened. Sanjaya has been voted off American Idol. I must say I feel a slight tinge of regret at seeing him go even though I do think he has the worst vocals of the lot. But he did add some excitement and uncertainty to AI. Not to mention all the different looks he had for each performance, almost worthy of a real popstar.
At the begining of the results show, Simon Cowell mentions the eye-rolling thing saying that he although he wasn’t the nicest person in the world, he would “never, never, ever” mean any disrespect to the victims and their families of the Virginia Tech shooting. A video clip of the actual sequence of events was shown - Simon talking to Paula while Chris Richardson was offering his condolences. Ryan Seacrest says that maybe next time, Simon should do more listening than talking.

For all the bad singing, I think that Sanjaya is really quite a sweet and brave guy who was just trying to chase his American dream.
