Ellen DeGeneres Replaces Paula Abdul On American Idol
Fox has announced in a statement that talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres will replace Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on American Idol season 9:
“DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition.”
Well, at least she’s a lot more fun than stony faced Victoria Beckham.
“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol,” DeGeneres says. “I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”
Ellen will continue to have her day time talk show. “I’m going to have a day job and a night job,” she says. “The times we’re living in … we’re all doing that.”
American Idol producer Simon Fuller said, “I could not be more excited to have Ellen join the American Idol family. Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel. I can’t wait for this next season to begin.”
Ellen has guest judged on another reality TV show, So You Think You Can Dance.
Well, Paula, if you’ve been holding out for a counter offer from American Idol, I think you should think about taking the job for So You Think You Can Dance.

Ellen might just give a breath of fresh air to AI judging. Though she is not in the music business, I will take her anytime than Posh! Furthermore, she will fit in as she has chemistry with Simon. As for Paula, I really think she should be a judge on SYTYCD given her years of experience in dance.
