Spiderman 3 should’ve killed off MJ

maryjane1.jpgAs in Spiderman 1 and 2, MaryJane got captured by the villian again in Spiderman 3 and was used as spider bait in Spiderman 3. Only this time, there are 3 villians – Green Goblin Jr, Sandman and Venom. Sandman is a petty crook who fell into some particle atomizer on some tech facility with the result that his constitution is now sand. How do you kill sand? While Venom is another freelance photographer at the Daily Bugle where Parker also freelances.

Spiderman gets to connect with his dark alter ego after an alien lifeform assimilates into him giving him the very nice, cool black suit. It also unleashes an inner force that brings out his dark side which makes him more powerful. But with absolute power, comes a price.
Spiderman needs all the power he can get as he is faced with 3 enemies, 2 of whom are more powerful than he is. All I can say is, the villians are awesome which makes up for the plodding MJ parts.spiderman4.jpg
I didn’t get the MJ/Parker/Gwen angle of the story and quite some time is wasted on it. the movie is l o n g – clocking in at almost 2.5 hours. At least 20 minutes could’ve been shaved off to move it along. Those bits with Parker dancing around and pep talks by Aunt May only stalled the movie.

spiderman1.jpgAnd since MJ is such a liability to Spiderman, who almost gets killed rescuing her, the scriptwriters should kill her off. If there is going to be a Spiderman 4 – of course there will be, just look at the box office receipts – no prizes for guessing how the movie is going end again.

  1. [...] This is the most awaited blockbuster movie of the year IMHO, even more so than Spiderman 3. Why? Because Pirates 2 ended on a cliffhanger. Captain Jack Sparrow was last seen swallowed by Davy Crockett’s squid monster and the best part – Captain Barbossa lives! Or maybe that’s his walking corpse, you never know with these fantasy movies. Anything is possible. [...]
