Leona Lewis Slapped At Book Signing
X-Factor winner Leona Lewis was reportedly slapped or punched in the face by a man with hundreds of horrified fans looking on at Waterstone’s booksellers in London’s Piccadilly where she was signing her book “Dreams”.
The man who has been held in custody, was in the queue when he suddenly attacked her. Leona Lewis cried out in pain and was quickly led off by security where she could be seen crying even with her sunglasses on.
A spokesperson for Leona Lewis says the singer suffered bruising to the side of her head and was taken to a private doctor in Central London, “Leona is absolutely gutted that she did not get the signings finished. This guy whacked her one in the face, and she was sitting down and he was standing up, so you couldn’t get more cowardly.”
“Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings.”
Waterstone’s also issued a statement, “There was an incident at our Leona Lewis signing this afternoon and the event was immediately stopped. We are now doing everything we can to support the police in their inquiries. We take security at our book signings extremely seriously and this is the first time anything of this nature has happened. We would like to thank Leona for her professionalism and we are extremely sad that this event was ruined for her, and her fans, many of whom queued from the early hours of the morning to meet her.”
