Simon Cowell before American Idol - WAY before
Simon Cowell made his television debut way before American Idol or its original British parent Pop Idol. Simon appeared as a contestant on an international game show called Sale Of The Century in 1989, where his goal was to win a chance to buy a Fiat Uno at a heavy discount with the points scored from answering questions, however he only managed to win kitchen utensils. Strange, the uncanny resemblance he bore to Hugh Grant. See the youtube video.
