American Idol Season 9 Boston Auditions

American Idol 9

American Idol Season 9 has started – without Paula Abdul and to be honest, I hardly noticed that she’s gone. The first auditions were held in Boston with little outstanding talent even for the ones that made it through to Hollywood week.

Former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, introduced as “entrepreneur” and “fashion icon” was surprisingly agreeable as a judge and watching her banter with Simon Cowell was like watching a skit from Little Britain; quite funny.

Here are some American Idol Season 9 Boston audition videos of those who made it through:
Mike Davis, 18 – Video
Katie Stevens, 16 – Video
Joshua Blaylock, 28 – Video
Justin Williams, 21 – Video
Bosa Maura, 22 – Video
Leah Laurenti, 22 – Video

And now for the real reason why we all watch American Idol – to listen to Simon Cowell’s comments. He didn’t disappoint, of course. Here are some of them:

To Lisa, the 24-year-old waitress with the sexy figure but very little singing ability: “I genuinely believed when you walked in that we may have a great singer here, then you started singing.”

To 26-year-old Ryan Keane, after a botched performance of “Ring of Fire”: “It’s an absolute, unequivocal no.”

To bizarre 18-year-old Michael Jackson disciple Norberto Guerrero: “You sing like a 3-year-old girl, dress like LaToya Jackson, and you’ve got a beard.”

To 17-year-old Pat Ford, who sang a painful rendition of Britney’s “Womanizer” and bastardized her dance moves: “Stop singing forever.” (OK, that was Randy, but it was a good one.)

To 19-year-old Derek Hilton, the soulful neo-hippie who wanted to “touch America”: “There were 20 of you and every one of them was horrible.”
