One of the better shows on TV recently, Dirt season 3 has been cancelled by FX. Produced by Courtney Cox and her husband David Arquette’s production company, “Dirt” is about the world of celebrities and papparazzi with many of the storylines and characters mirroring actual celebrity events such as Paris Hilton goes to jail and the fall of Britney Spears.

Courtney Cox however is putting on a brave face saying that she and hubby David Arquette are planning more projects. “We’re developing all kinds of stuff right now,” she said. “We’ll producing more stuff together, for sure.”

Here’s the video of the new American Idol David Cook interview on Jay Leno Show. It’s non-stop interviews and appearances for David Cook now and he’s really taking to all the celebrity stuff like fish to water.

The dumbest survivor used to be James the grave digger from Survivor China who was voted out when he did not use his immunity idol despite having two idols and that it was the last 2 chances to use it. Now he can rest easy knowing that the title no longer belonged to him.

Erik Reichenbach is now officially Dumbest Survivor In Survivor History for giving away his immunity necklace to Natalie in a naive effort to seek general redemption after being accused of trying to work everyone. Of course, everyone promptly voted him out. What a dumbass. He might unbeatable at Survivor trivia but it doesn’t seem like he’s picked up any pointers from the past 13 seasons.

It was the blindside of all blindsides in Survivor Micronesia. Goes to show once again that over-confidence will get you voted out, no matter how comfortable things may seem. Previously voted out survivor Eliza’s expression says it all.

The big Idol Gives Back 2008 charity fund raiser segment of American Idol Season 7 was taped over the weekend with many big stars such as Brad Pitt and Mariah Carey in attendance to lend support. Last year’s Idol Gives Back raised over US$76 million.

The show will be on April 9 from 8 to 10 PM (ET) and will feature Bono, Miley Cyrus, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend and Snoop Dogg.

Mega movie star Brad Pitt did the taping for American Idol - Idol Gives Back a special edition of the show that raises funds for charity. Although he was one of many stars including Bono, Carrie Underwood and Mariah Carey on hand to give celebrity support to Idol Gives Back, Brad Pitt was undoubtedly the biggest star there. He introduced a video clip of Chris Daughtry’s trip to Uganda but the mike failed and some technicians had to come forward to fix the mike malfunction.

Outstanding Amanda Overmyer was eliminated on American Idol Top 11 a couple of weeks ago. If you’re wondering if eliminated American Idol contestants go home immediately after that, no they don’t. They do appearances like going on the Ellen talk show.

Amanda Overmyer is so realistic about her expectations and totally down-to-earth, she rocks. I really dig this bare-bones version of “I Hate Myself For Loving You”. I hope she has a successful singing career from her exposure in American Idol.

It’s not on air yet, but American Idol Season 7 Top 24 finalists have been selected. Among the rumoured finalists are some expected favorites including Danny Noreiga - see the YouTube video for his audition with “Proud Mary”. I don’t know about you but I found his performance slightly creepy. It’s like his singing is not coming from his body. In fact, he sounds slightly possessed.

Another favorite is Asia’h Epperson, who will forever be known as the girl who lost her father a few days before the American Idol audition. She isn’t fantastic but there is some kind of unconcious sympathetic element in play here for her inclusion.

As the Hollywood writers’ strike continues, many popular TV shows including The Office has had its production halted until the strike has resolved the issues on hand. As the strike entered its third day, no new negotiations were scheduled on the main sticking point between writers and producers: payments from DVDs and shows offered on the Internet.

Production of 7 TV sitcoms have stopped because of the strike and reruns are expected as shows run out of new episodes. According to Entertainment Weekly, here is the list of shows with new episodes left before they have to broadcast reruns or have alternative programming.

The best TV show running at the moment, The Office now in season 4 could well be the best season so far. In episode 4 “Money”, Jim and Pam go for an overnight stay on Dwight’s beet farm B&B, Shrute Farms. Thanks to the glowing review they gave on TripAdvisor shown below, Shrute Farms is now fully booked until 2010.

One of the most powerful people in the TV industry, Oprah Winfrey flew to her all-girl South African school for crisis meetings to deal with allegations of sexual misconduct by staff. The school, Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls for underprivileged children, was set up using £22 million from her charitable foundation.

The incidents came to light when one of the abused girls ran away from school because the alleged abuse had become intolerable. “Nothing is more serious or devastating to me than an allegation of misconduct by an adult against any girl at the academy,” Oprah Winfrey said in her only comment on the incident.

So unless you’ve been living under a rock, the season finale of the gangster TV series The Sopranos ended rather suddenly. But in case you HAVE been living under a rock, see the video above and you’ll see why it left fans with a near heart attack and more conspiracy theories than 911. Many think that Tony got whacked.

Series creator David Chase has broken his silence on the matter. He says that Tony DIDN’T get whacked as he was munching on his onion rings. “There WAS a war going on that week, and attempted terror attacks in London,” says Chase. “But these people were talking about onion rings.”
