Early favorite Asia’h Epperson auditions for American Idol Season 7 and impresses the judges. Asiah Eperson had a compelling story that made her stand out from the hordes that went for auditions. Her father had died just 2 days prior to the auditions and Asiah Epperson said that her father would’ve wanted her to go for the auditions.

Asia’h Epperson certainly can sing but as we all know, American Idol is not totally about being a good singer. Asiah Epperson needs to bring out a side of her personality that audiences can connect with and from the looks of it, it seems that Asiah Epperson has done just that.

American Idol contestant Asia’h Epperson was eliminated early on in the Top 24. Speaking after her elimination, Asia’h Epperson said she had an idea that she would be the one to go because of the performance order.

Asia’h Epperson said, “I just said I just feel that the order that I’m in is really going to affect the results. I feel that because I had such an upbeat song - that it wasn’t proper for me to be the very first person. I had to look at it as if I was in the audience, and I just sat down. If I would want someone right up in my face, right there in the beginning saying I want to dance with somebody. I’d be, ‘Whoa, hold on, I just got here. Let me get warmed up first!’”

For her song choice, Asia’h Epperson did “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and said she knew she might be in for some harsh remarks for choosing a Whitney Houston song but went ahead anyway. And indeed she did. Simon Cowell said Asia’h Epperson sounded like a second rate Whitney. That doesn’t really bother Asia’h Epperson much though as she took it as a compliment.

Remember Asia’h Epperson who was an American Idol Top 24 contestant and Danny Noreiga are interviewed in Idol Castoffs, a Fox news segment. Asia’h Epperson was an early favorite when the American Idol Top 24 contestants were revealed not only because she had quite a good voice but also because in Asia’h Epperson American Idol audition, she had a compelling story about how she went for American Idol auditions just 2 days after her father died.

Surprisingly though, Asia’h Epperson was eliminated rather early on in the contest when she brought the kiss of death upon herself by singing Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Somebody shoulda told Asia’h Epperson NOT to sing Whitney.

Still popular Danny Noreiga makes videos and posts them on YouTube for his fans. If there’s one thing you can say about Danny Noreiga is that he is unique. After being voted out from American Idol, he landed himself a job with Rosie O’Donnell to sing on O’Donell’s R Family Vacations cruise to Mexico.

Outstanding Amanda Overmyer was eliminated on American Idol Top 11 a couple of weeks ago. If you’re wondering if eliminated American Idol contestants go home immediately after that, no they don’t. They do appearances like going on the Ellen talk show.

Amanda Overmyer is so realistic about her expectations and totally down-to-earth, she rocks. I really dig this bare-bones version of “I Hate Myself For Loving You”. I hope she has a successful singing career from her exposure in American Idol.

It’s not on air yet, but American Idol Season 7 Top 24 finalists have been selected. Among the rumoured finalists are some expected favorites including Danny Noreiga - see the YouTube video for his audition with “Proud Mary”. I don’t know about you but I found his performance slightly creepy. It’s like his singing is not coming from his body. In fact, he sounds slightly possessed.

Another favorite is Asia’h Epperson, who will forever be known as the girl who lost her father a few days before the American Idol audition. She isn’t fantastic but there is some kind of unconcious sympathetic element in play here for her inclusion.
