Sally Field was her usual wrecking ball self during her thank you speech or rather, rant after receiving her Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in Brothers & Sisters.
Part of her speech was bleeped out:“If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn’t be any god-damned wars in the first place.â€

The Emmys was a little boring but it wasn’t without its highlights and funny moments. Terry O’Quinn who plays John Locke on Lost gave a terrific thank you speech after winning his Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama. He rocks!

I’d said the Emmys was basically a non-event and guess what, it’s worse than I thought. Ratings are the second poorest ratings EVER with only 13.1 million viewers.
Ryan Seacrest also got bad reviews as the host. I watched the Emmys and Ryan hosted it like he was hosting American Idol when he called on Simon and Paula during his jokes.
The stage was a round circle smack in the middle of the audience. I think this is a bad idea because people have to keep turning around so that people sitting behind don’t feel left out.

No Britney Spears, instead Christina Aguilera performed with Tony Bennet and loads of other stars turned up for the Emmys. The Emmys are pretty much a non-event except for the folks nominated. In fact, much of it was overshadowed by news that OJ Simpson was arrested for holding someone at gunpoint. Anyway, if you care about the Emmys, among the winners are:

According to US Weekly, Britney Spears might be appearing on the upcoming Emmy’s this Sunday. Said an Emmy source, “The idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She’s weighing the offer.”
There is no official word from Britney’s people, but a source close to Britney Spears says, “I can’t say this is 100 percent not true. All I can say is that the Emmy people aren’t dealing with her record company, her manager or her agents at William Morris. So if she is doing anything for the Emmys then it’s not going through the official channels.”
This comes on the heels of other support from American Idol judge Simon Cowell, Extra and a tearful fan pleading with people to leave Britney alone.

Even American Idol Judge Dread Simon Cowell has a few things to say about Britney Spears after her now infamous MTV Music Video Awards performance that launched a thousand attacks and one tearful fan’s plea to leave Britney alone.
Simon said that he wouldn’t let her perform if he was her manager. He says, “If I had been looking after Britney, I’d have taken one look at her in rehearsals and I wouldn’t have allowed her on stage. The song wasn’t right, the image wasn’t right and she just wasn’t rehearsed.”
“The problem she has now is that she could have killed her career. It’s difficult to come back from that performance, for a while at least.” But he also made some suggestions as to how Britney Spears can salvage herself.
Simon Cowell says that, among other things, getting her “away from her stupid friends” will help revive her career. “MTV ratings are up and all we’re hearing is Britney, Britney, Britney!” Simon said. “She can turn it around.”
Britney is also getting some support from Extra which is opening its doors to Britney Spears for a second chance at a comeback. They released a statement saying, “We’ve made the call to Spears, inviting her to perform at ‘Extra’ on our stage in Los Angeles or in Las Vegas at the Extra Lounge in Planet Hollywood’s Hotel and Resort.”
Not many people get a second chance – let’s hope Britney doesn’t blow it this time.
