This could be the end for my favorite Amanda Overmyer who sings “Back In The USSR” on American Idol Top 11 performances night. I’ve long said that Amanda Overmyer is not mainstream enough for American Idol and she would be eliminated early despite her enormous talent. Looking on the bright side, she won’t have to go through some stupid American Idol theme like “Barry Manilow Songbook”. Oh well, more time to get started with her professional singing career.

In the latest American Idol results show for the Top 12 Performers, David Hernandez got voted out. What crap. He may have made a bad song choice and put on a poor performance but it was nowhere nearly as bad as Kristy Lee Cook who not only mocked a Beatles classic with her rendition of “8 Days A Week” but also mocked American Idol to prove once again that American Idol is a popularity contest and not a talent contest, as Simon Cowell pointed out.

Remaining Top 11 Performers are Amanda Overmyer, Ramiele Malubay, Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado Michael Johns, David Archuleta, Jason Castro, David Cook and Chikezie Eze.

My favorite rocker nurse Amanda Overmyer sings “You Can’t Do That” on American Idol Top 12 performances night. It was as if Amanda Overmyer read what I said about wishing she would put back some of that Joplin-esque quality she had in her auditions in her songs, Amanda Overmyer rocked it!! It was risky picking a Beatles song no one’s ever heard of!

Boyish David Archuleta sings “We Can Work It Out” on American Idol Top 12 performances night. David Archuleta is way over rated IMHO but he’s popular with 12 year old girls, and we all know they are the ones with spending power who will actually pick up the phone to vote.
