During American Idol Hollywood week, David Archuleta sings shmaltzy “Heaven” by Bryan Adams and manages to make it moving. That’s the hallmark of a great singer. It’s clear even at this early stage that David Archuleta is a strong contender in American Idol.

An earlier American Idol interview with my favorite Amanda Overmyer. Here’s the news of her in a car accident just before Hollywood week in American Idol.

“After the Atlanta tryout, Overmyer was involved in a crash on Nov. 20 in Logansport. Her 2003 Ford Mustang collided with a semi as Overmyer was attempting to cross U.S. 24/U.S. 35, according to the Logansport Pharos-Tribune. An unconscious Overmyer was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne but was later released.

Overmyer was the original singer in the local hard rock band Steeleto.”

The American Idol Top 20 Performers results saw Jason Yeager, Robbie Carrico, Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker voted out.

Some say Robbie Carrico and Alaina Whitaker getting voted out were shocking results. I don’t see it that way. America made the right decision although it is a bummer seeing Amanda Overmyer in the bottom 2 for 2 weeks in a row. I really hope she picks better songs in the next round.

My favorite Amanda Overmyer made an unfortunate choice to sing “Carry On Wayward Son” by Kansas on the American Idol Top 20 Female Performance which turned out rather unappealing. I hope she doesn’t get voted out because of this. American Idol would be so boring without her.
