American Idol Season 9 Top 10 Girls

Still-ill Crystal Bowersox will perform on American Idol Season 9 Top 10 girls show or she will be disqualified.

Crystal Bowersox – As Long As I See The Light by Creedence Clearwater Revival
She does great with her bluesy rendition. Randy and Ellen say she’s got pure, natural talent. Kara says, “you completely recovered from last week…you are that Americana singer, raw….effortless, centered, focused. Tonight you hit a new level.” Simon says, “what’s great about you…you didn’t play the whole sympathy thing…I underestimated you last week. the vocal was incredible…this is like the moment with Kelly Clarkson, we realized we had a really serious artist here.”

Haeley Vaughn – The Climb by Miley Cyrus
Wrong song choice plus other natural disasters follow. Randy says, “it didn’t work for me…it was excruciating…it was so pitchy and so not right for you, you had no connection to the song.” Ellen says, “you’re adorable…you didn’t connect to the song…it didn’t work out.” Kara says, “people are rooting for you at home, you’re real your smiling, unfortunately you need about a year of strengthening your instrument…pitch issues need to be worked out…you are such a great spirit on that stage.” Simon says, “it was a complete and utter mess…in theory it should have worked…”

Lacey Brown – Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer
Apparently Kara chose this song for her. She does a decent performance but doesn’t provide any creative input – in fact, non of the girls do with the possible exception of Crystal Bowersox but then even with her, it’s still a hit or miss. Randy thought it was a good song choice, “but for most of the song, I was waiting for the words to flash across the screen.” Ellen says, “I thought it was adorable, I thought it was great…a good choice.” Kara says, “you have this very unique style, this song brought it back…but you have to step it up…you didn’t push it..step in the right direction.” Simon said, “marginally better than last week…you are participating in a competition rather than showing us who you are.”

Katie Stevens – Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae
Almost exact copy of the original. Sigh – this season’s American Idol really sucks. But she’ll be back next week simply because everyone else is just as bad or worse. Randy says, “there were some bright moments there…by the time you hit your sweet spot it was cool.” Ellen says, “I think you’ve got a good voice…it still feels like I want to see you younger…I don’t want to hear something I would hear in my dentist office.” Kara says, “it’s so frustrating…at the end you began to open up…you have to do that from the beginning…I’m still waiting for that moment from you.” Simon says, “if you came into my record label, I would tell you to get experience and I would ask you who you are as an artist.”

Didi Benami – Lean on Me by Bill Withers
Wrong song choice – tired and boring, and she didn’t make it better. Randy says, “I would not have chosen that soul song for you…not a great choice.” Ellen says, “I love your voice…I think you have a great presence…you tried to do stuff with it…not the greatest song choice.” Kara says, “it wasn’t good…it really wasn’t good…what I’m missing from you is consistency…it felt like a karaoke bar, we lost the uniqueness of your voice..it was all over the place…I’m still a fan of yours.” Simon says, “it was screeching, bad choice of song…it’s frustrating, you get this fantastic opportunity…and you do something generic.”

Michelle Delamore – With Arms Wide Open by Creed
Interesting song choice and she could have done something special with it but of course most of these girls are just shooting in the dark. Randy says, “a couple pitch problems…the outfit was hot…you didn’t do enough with the song. It fell flat to me.” Ellen says, “I felt like you did a lot with a song…for a few minutes I forgot it was a rock song, it almost worked, but not quite.” Kara says, “my favorite performance of yours ever..it may not have been technically perfect, but you felt it…you’re trying….you did something very different with the song, and I bought it.” Simon says, “I’m kind of with Kara on this, the first half was much stronger…you didn’t choose a safe song…You got 85% of it right.”

Lilly Scott – A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke
She and Crystal may be the ones to battle it out at the finals. Randy loves that she’s so unique, “Dude you worked it out, my favorite of the night.” Ellen says, “You have IT…I forgot you were in a singing competition. By far the performance of the night.” Kara says, “You just had your first moment. You are going to change the game…good job girl.” Simon says, “This really makes the point..how you become relevant”

Katelyn Epperly – The Scientist by Coldplay
She plays the piano on this and puts on a respectable performance. Randy says, “It was nice to hear you play piano, I really liked it.” Ellen says, “I fell kind of asleep, it was so slow…way to slow….” Kara says, “I understand what Randy and Ellen are saying, but I kind of love you. You could do a lot with that incredible instrument…figure out who you are.” Simon says, “It was a smart choice of song, you’ve become quite corny when you perform…a million times better than last week, you’re back in the race.”

Paige Miles – Walk Away by Kelly Clarkson
Another alright but unspectacular performance. Kara co-wrote the song with Kelly Clarkson. Randy liked it. Ellen says, “I loved it…thought it was fantastic, you changed just enought to make it yours, you had fun, you have one of the best voices.” Kara says, “I could see you having a hit with that song…If you knew the guy I wrote that song about…I miss the anger..you wouldn’t have been smiling…but I liked it.” Simon says, “I’m afraid two weeks in a row you’ve failed to choose the right song…you have such a strong voice, you have to nail the song…it was forgettable.”

Siobhan Magnus – Think by Aretha Franklin
Good voice but that’s about it. Randy and Ellen loved it even though Siohban can’t make the high notes. Kara says, “I can’t get over that note…” Siobhan says she figured out how to hit that note singing Kelly Clarkson in the shower. Simon says, “Once again, you are so strange…I thought there were parts of that song that were terrible….you are interesting and very very talented.”

The American Idol Season 9 contestant standards are so bad that coupled with Simon’s impending absence, I feel like we are witnessing its slow but unavoidable demise.

Jessica Simpson On Oprah

Singer and reality TV star Jessica Simpson was almost in tears when she talked to Oprah about the controversial Playboy interview by John Meyer in which he called her “sexual napalm” and compared her to crack cocaine.

“I tried to read the article, and I was so disappointed in him,” she tells Oprah Winfrey. “It made me so sad, and it was really discouraging because that’s not the John that I knew…I hope he gets his life together.” She admitted she was “a little angry” about his rant. “I don’t want people to know how I am in bed!”

He later apologized for opening his mouth and said he’d behaved like “an a-hole”.

Jessica Simpson confirms reports that he reached out to her in the aftermath. “He did apologize. I don’t accept it. It’s just one of those things that…I don’t resent him. I’m just going to let that go. That part of my life is over.”

She also spoke about her mom jeans: Jessica Simpson Weight Gain Gossip, “I fluctuate from 4 to 6,” she explains, “I’m not going to ever be size 0, and I don’t want to weigh 90 pounds…It’s a really hard thing for me to talk about because I celebrate women of all sizes. I think that we’re all beautiful.”

American Idol Season 9 Top 10 Guys

The American Idol Season 9 Top 10 guys perform tonight instead of the Top 10 girls because Crystal Bowersox is ill. This is the first time a change is made because of a sick contestant. She has to be near death for this to happen but if that is so, can she recover in time to perform tomorrow?

Michael Lynche – This is a Man’s World by James Brown
All the judges loved it. Randy gives him a standing ovation. Ellen says his performance is the one to top. Kara says she’s “feeling it”. Simon says, “What a difference, from a pussycat to a lion in one week…you are an old soul…it didn’t sound dated…best performance in the competition so far.”

John Park – Gravity by John Mayer
A much improved performance simply because of song choice but still nothing outstanding. Randy says, “You didn’t bring anything new or spicy to it..flat for me.” Ellen said it could have used a little more soul. Kara says, “Way better than last week….when you sing it, I don’t always believe it…you’re a little bit safe, I want you to take risks.” “I think Purple haze will get their lead singer back,” says Simon, in reference to John’s acapella group, “..it was a “so what” song choice. I struggle with the believability factor.”

Casey James – I Don’t Want to Be by Gavin Degraw
This song is sung at every season American Idol and is pretty tiresome to listen to not to mention make it sound new but Casey does an OK job with it. Randy says, “I don’t know if you did the best vocal, but this is the kind of records I would make with you…that was hot.” Ellen says, “I thought you sounded great, I love you on guitar..but there’s a stiffness about you…I want to see you perform more.” Kara says, “Tonight, I got to say, you took 2 steps backward for me…you are a great lead guitar player, but everything that was distinct about your vocals went away.” Simon says, “I’m kinda with Kara here, you turned into somebody you will see in any bar in America, I don’t think you had the grit in your voice to make that work.”

Alex Lambert – Everybody Knows by John Legend
“This is such an improvement…I love you with your guitar,” says Randy, “You’re finding your own niche…way legit.” Ellen mentions his mullet again, “Underneath that mullet you’re a little Sam Cook. You have a unique style.” Kara says, “There isn’t a person out there who isn’t rooting for you…you have a beautiful recording voice, you don’t even know what to do with it.” Simon tells Alex that he has to have a killer instinct now and not be nervous, “The only time you should be nervous is when you’re useless…and you’re not.”

Todrick Hall – What’s Love Got to do with It by Tina Turner
He didn’t go overboard changing up the song like he did last week but he doesn’t really know how to change it effectively. Randy says, “that falsetto run was hot…I didn’t love this…just sing a nice song, just sing it.” Ellen says she didn’t think that song helped him get votes, “Sing and move…you should always go with your strength…it’s a hard song to sing.” Kara says his style is “crazy and all over the place” saying, “I don’t get it what happened to Todrick.” Simon says, “Move but don’t sing…this is not working out at all for you…it’s like a theme park performance…very corny bad version of a Tina Turner song.”

Jermaine Sellers – What’s Goin’ On by Marvin Gaye
Another song that’s sung on every American Idol season and Jermaine tries but fails with his vocal gymnastics. Randy says, “Better than last week…it was so close but so far…it just wasn’t a great performance.” Ellen says, “I love your style…It just didn’t work for me, it was off a little bit and you need to pull it back.” Kara says, “You’re always doing too much…look at the meaning of the song…it just feels forced…we don’t need every trick in every performance.” Simon says, “We’re frustrated and disappointed, You watered down the song, you made it lose it’s importance, you play around with it too much.”

Andrew Garcia – You Give Me Something by James Morrison
He skips the guitar and sings the song straight for a change and the results were not too impressive. Randy says he was pitchy, “Honestly, that wasn’t the vibe for you tonight…” Ellen liked it a lot, and feels he set the bar high with “Straight Up.”. Kara says, “Straight Up was so brilliant, but since then it’s been going down…you have to surprise us.” Kara doesn’t like it that he sang it straight. Simon says, “You haven’t chosen the right song in two weeks….with that song, you’re never going to look back on that song and think it’s an incredible version.”

Aaron Kelly – My Girl by the Temptations
Bad song choice but Randy loved it, “The first half of that song was brilliant…you can really sing.” Ellen says, “A whole lot more confidence, I think the song was a little forgetable, you definitely have a great voice.” Kara really liked it. “I think you’re going to get better and better.” Simon says the song arrangement was too old-fashioned, “I didn’t like the song, it was all over the place, you went backwards.”

Tim Urban – Come On Get Higher by Matt Nathanson
Better than last week but he still sucked. Randy says, “I didn’t really get it, it was very karaoke…pitch problems everywhere.” Ellen gives the best advice by telling him to act instead, “There’s no charisma and no stage presence, but you are so adorable.” Kara liked the song choice but, “You didn’t make it your own…you look and play the part, but it’s not all there yet…it could be there. I still want to see you next week.” Simon is feeling kind all of a sudden and says, “It was a marked improvement on last week, I think you listened to the criticism, you were more relevant than some of the singers we saw tonight…I’m impressed about your attitude and your work ethic, I think you did great.”

Lee Dewyze – Lips of an Angel by Hinder
Very run of the mill but the judges liked it generally. Randy says, “It was a bold move, but I like that you take chances…the song had a couple of pitch problems, but I liked it.” Ellen says, “There was so much passion and intensity, it came out as a great performance,” says Ellen. Kara says, “I thought it was a great improvement over last week…I could hear you on the radio right now.” Simon says, “Vocally you are head and shoulders above everyone else in this competition…you look terrified.”

Robert Pattinson Spiderman Rumors

Posted in Showbiz | No Comments »

Robert Pattinson

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has officially put Hollywood celebrity gossip rumors about him being in the next Spider Man movie to rest.

At the premiere of Remember Me, Robert Pattinson said he has not been asked to put on the Spider Man suit, “No, I like the idea of doing an action movie where you can never see your face, cause you don’t have to go to the gym and you don’t have to do any of your stunts and stuff. But no, no one ever asked me about it.”

I think he will have a tough time taking on any other role given his dominant Edward persona.

Naomi Campbell Wanted For Hit And Run

Hollywood celebrity gossip news rumors

Police are investigating former supermodel Naomi Campbell for allegedly hitting her driver who stopped the car in mid-town Manhattan to complain to a traffic agent while his employer fled on foot.

Naomi Campbell’s spokesperson said, “There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment. Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye.”

This is not the first time Naomi Campbell has been accused of violence. In 2006, she was arrested for hitting her housekeeper with a crystal-studded BlackBerry during a fight. A judge ordered her to complete several hours of community service in 2007 as a result.

In 2008, she was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and fined $4500 for assaulting two police officers in London’s Heathrow airport.
