Hollywood celebrity gossip news rumors

Singer Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil killed himself by leaping to his death from his rented apartment in central LA on Friday, according to Hollywood celebrity gossip news rumors site E!Online.

He left a suicide note in which said he intended to end his life after a lengthy battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.

A rep for Marie Osmond released a statement on Saturday:

“My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

Michael entered a rehab facility in 2007 but the reason was never revealed. Marie Osmond had said at the time, “”My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him.”

Michael is one of eight children (4 adopted) Marie had with ex-husband, music producer Brian Blosil. They split in 2007 after 20 years of marriage.

Marie has cancelled her performance with brother Donny at the Flamingo Hotel in New York. It is not known how long the cancellation would last.

American Idol Top 12 Girls Top 12 Guys

American Idol would not be American Idol without the unfair eliminations – bad singers get voted through while better ones get dropped because they are not likeable enough. So American Idol Season 9 Top 24 Results see 2 girls and 2 guys who are not necessarily the worst singers get eliminated. But really, they’re all pretty nondescript, so there is no outrage from me either way.

It is the typical draggy results show that American Idol is so good at. After interspersing with a group performance of “American Boy”, guest performances by alumni Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen who also shared a video on his recent trip to Haiti, here are the results.

Girls eliminated:
Janell Wheeler
Ashley Rodriguez

Guys eliminated:
Joe Munoz
Tyler Grady

American Idol Season 9 Top 12 Guys

The American Idol Season 9 Top 12 guys had their turn and most of them were pretty bad with a few verging on “how the heck did he get into the Top 12″ bad.

Todrick Hall – Since You Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson
He goes a little overboard trying to “hip hop up” the song to the point where no one knows what song he is singing but you have to give him points for creativity and boldness. Ellen says, “You’re such a great performer. I love that you did something different with it..the chorus was a little rough…love that you took a chance.” Randy says, “It didn’t even sound like the same song…you never want to completely obliterate a song…I still want to see you sing…” Kara says, “You don’t have to arrange the song that much…it’s undeniable that you are a performer…you took a risk that’s how you learn.” Simon was harshest with, “I thought it was a crazy arrangement of the song..murdered the original song…it was verging on stupid what you just did.”

Aaron Kelly – Here Comes Goodbye by Rascall Flatts
He sings quite well but just doesn’t have stage presence and looked a little nervous. Both Randy and Ellen liked his performance with Kara saying she can see him singing pop country. Simon says, “It actually was quite a good performance…you look as if you are embarrassed to be there…you have to take control of the song…absolutely you will be here next week.”

Jermaine Sellers – Get Here by Oleta Adams
He tries too hard and does too many things with the song – very old school. Kara says it best, “When you do those runs, make them meaningful…it felt a little old to me.” Randy and Ellen say that it was pitchy. Simon is absolutely trashing the guys – “In the middle when you were trying to over-sing it…you were screaming…I think you’ve totally blown your chance with that.”

Tim Urban – Apologize by OneRepublic
Woah…disaster from first note to last. How on earth did he get into the Top 12? Simon gives it to him, “We absolutely made the right decision not putting you through the first time around based on that performance.” Kara says, “The music just swallowed you up…here you were just buried under the beat.” Randy says, “It was really the wrong song for you…none of it worked.” Ellen says, “You couldn’t hit those high notes,” but that he could still get lots of votes because he’s adorable.

Joe Munoz – You and I by Jason Mraz
Okay job from him albeit just a run of the mill kind of performance. Randy says, “Not quite the perfect song choice…singing Jason Mraz is tough…but you worked it out.” However, Ellen and Kara liked his song choice. Simon says, “You have to get out of the bubble…based on that performance…an OK safe performance…you haven’t shown us that you can be a star.”

Tyler Grady – American Woman by the Guess Who
What a poser this guy is. He does not have a great voice nor singing style and looked like he does impersonations for a living. Randy tells him, “Be an original.” Ellen says he’s got all poses but it’s starting to feel put on. Simon says, “People are going to remember that performance…partly for the wrong reasons…it doesn’t feel natural…you’ve got to start changing it up.”

Lee Dewyze – Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
He’s got a good voice but lacks originality even though he tries to add some of his own interpretation, he ends up ruining the melody. Randy said it was pitchy and Ellen didn’t like the screaming parts. Kara says, “You tried to change it up, but you almost made the song unrecognizable in parts,” and suggested doing Bad Company. Simon though it was great, saying “I thought this was the best performance by a mile…this guy is a naturally good singer…I fought for you to be here…don’t do bad company..do what David Cook did with Lionel Richie…I think you are going to do well in this competition.”

John Park – God Bless the Child
Rather dreary song that he didn’t have any soul for even though he tried his best. The melody sounded off for the most parts that he tried to change up. Randy and Ellen felt it was the wrong song choice. Kara says, “There was no connection…loungy, sleepy indulgent.” Simon says, “You have got to have an incredible voice to take on that song, and you haven’t…it came over as very flat…zero emotion…It was a pointless performance…a copycat Michael Buble.”

Michael Lynche – This Love by Maroon Five
Another run of the mill performance although it was quite enjoyable. Ellen says, “You have so much personality…I thought that was a great song choice…a few pitch problems but it doesn’t matter.” Randy says, “I like you, you brought the energy up.” Kara says, “It was a little depressing in here…it wasn’t outrageously great…you’re comfortable with you..but you could challenge yourself.” Simon says, “you were like the support guy…it was like a vague jazzy version of that song…you’re better than that.”

Alex Lambert – Wonderful World by James Morrison
He sounds uncannily like James Morrison and ends just being a clone. Kara says, “You sound so much like James Morrison..that’s a problem, but a huge compliment…it’s all there, it’s not together.” Randy says, “Try to pull it all together…I like you.” Ellen says, “you’re like an unripe banana that you want to eat but can’t cos it’s not ripe”. Simon says, “That was the most uncomfortable performance of the night…you’ve got a good voice…but if you can’t get your nerves together.” Apparently this is only his third time performing in front of a big audience.

Casey James – Heaven by Bryan Adams
He plays the guitar and does an okay performance. The judges liked his song choice and singing but were not jumping out of their seats. Simon says, “We were both cursed with good looks…what I really liked about you..you chose the right song…honest, likable..sincere…this was the best I’ve heard from you.”

Andrew Garcia – Sugar We’re Going Down by Fallout Boy
He does acoustic on this but was not as good as his audition nor Hollywood Week where he did a great version of Paula Abdul’s Straight Up. Kara says, “It was a really strange rendition of that song….it wasn’t meant to be acoustic.” Randy says the arrangement was “really strange.” Ellen says, “I think that Paula song is going to carry you for awhile…you were too inside yourself.” Simon says, “I was disappointed with that…too serious, indulgent, not original enough…I don’t think tonight you took a risk..a bit forgettable.”

The 2 guys with the least number of votes will go home.

American Idol Season 9 Top 12 Girls

The American Idol Season 9 Top 12 girls took to the stage for the first viewers voting show. Simon Cowell believes that a girl will take the American Idol title this year but in reality, none of the girls really have that much star power. Most likely, she’ll win, make a record and fade away into a forgotten corner to gather dust like most of her predecessors.

Paige Miles – Alright Now by Free
Interesting song choice – a rock classic (that Simon says is a wedding singer type of song) – done soul style. Simon thinks she has the best voice (read big) among the girls but says, “you’ve got to believe in yourself.” All the other judges said they liked it.

Ashley Rodriguez – Happy by Leona Lewis
A Leona Lewis clone but with a smaller voice. Just another wannabe with no sense of identity. The judges had generic comments such as, “it wasn’t really you” while Simon was more specific saying, “I thought it was clumsy…I think you are going backwards…just somebody who sings other people’s songs…I’m afraid you’re in trouble tonight.”

Janell Wheeler – What About Love by Heart
Poor song choice – it was pretty boring. The judges thought so too, saying the song was too big for her style of singing. Simon says, “You gave it 100 percent effort and delivered 65%.”

Lilly Scott – Fixin’ A Hole by The Beatles
Every season has a quirky singer and Lilly is it. She manages to deliver an interesting performance instead of making me switch to the way more interesting animal documentary channel. Ellen says, “I think that’s what we’re talking about…such a random song choice…you have such a unique voice.” Simon says, “Definitely the best we’ve had so far…but I’m not feeling much star power from you.” Kara says, “You are believable…you feel at ease…everyone is going to remember you tonight.” Randy says, “I love that you’re a real indie artist…you don’t care what people think…it’s not affected…love the honesty.”

Katelyn Epperly – Oh Darlin’ by The Beatles
It was alright but her version wasn’t that much different from the original. Kara says, “You know your voice very very well…You know what you’re doing…you switched it up in a way…I don’t like the makeover” – referring to the trashy make up and hairdo. Simon says, “It was very messy…but I like you…quirky interesting…brave…I like you a lot.”

Haeley Vaughn – I Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles
She played the guitar and did a somewhat interesting, light version – it was almost like lounge music. Kara says, “there were some technical issues…you’re very pure…you make up for what you can’t do with your vocals.” Randy says, “I love that unpredictability….When you hit those high notes…the sound isn’t quite as pleasing as it could be…you’re so bold.” Ellen says, “You have so much presence on stage…you just shine…I think you have a great voice.” Simon says, “I thought it was verging on terrible. You were like a windup doll that never stops smiling. A complete and utter mess.” “If it was a mess, it was a hot mess,” says Ellen.

Lacey Brown – Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
A rather low key song choice for a first performance. They have got to stop singing songs just because they love it. Randy says, “I just don’t think it was the right song for you…I thought it was terrible…it was pitchy all over the place.” Ellen says, “I think you’re better than that…there were some moments where you got lost.” Simon says, “I actually thought it was quite depressing…indulgent…you’re trying to work out who you are…it was just boring.” Kara says, “You usually hit those notes….I do hope that America gives you one more shot.”

Michelle Delamor – Fallin’ by Alicia Keys
Another wannabe who has no inkling of self-identity. Of course she does not match up to the original. All the judges say that she needs to do more than just a copy version of a song.

Didi Benami – The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson
While Adele and Duffy are cool, there are at least 2 other girls who are in the same genre and she needs to make herself stand out. Simon says, “I’m missing a spark here…something that excites me.” Kara says, “The song is good….you at last made some changes to the original recording.” Randy says, “Where is the star factor? The song is cool…you sounded great singing… but so sleepy for me.” Ellen says, “For that first impression, it was a little low-key, but you’re great.”

Siobhan Magnus – Wicked Game by Chris Isaak
She manages to sound different from the original even though she sings it the way Chris Isaak does simply cos it’s a girl singing. Actually, that is quite smart. If you’re not creative enough to make the song your own, sing one that is by the other gender. It will sound different. Judges’ comments are generally favorable but they are not jumping out of their chairs.

Crystal Bowersox – Hand In My Pocket by Alanis Morisette
There is this honesty about her singing – like a street side busker and the judges all love her except Simon who says, “There are thousands of you doing that outside of subway stations…you’re doing a sound alike. You have to make it your version.”

Katie Stevens – Feelin’ Good by Michael Buble
Big voice but that vital element of creativity and originality so glaringly lacking in all the girls. Randy says, “All the notes went a little sharp..” Ellen says, “It was good, it was very conservative, but I want to see you be 17…a little old for you…but you’re great.” Kara says, “I’ve never heard you be pitchy…you were all over the place…but you have ridiculous chops..I hope America gives you another chance.” Simon says, “It was like your mom and dad had dressed you for this audition, you started to become annoying…very pageanty.”

The 2 girls with the least number of votes will go home.

The American Idol Season 9 Top 12 boys perform next.
