One of Britain’s top fashion designers, Alexander McQueen was found dead from apparent suicide. McQueen, 40 was nicknamed “the hooligan of English fashion,” with his close-cropped hair, Doc Marten boots and shocking designs, was named head designer at the staid Paris couture house Givenchy in 1996.

On the official Steve McQueen website, this message was posted:

“On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family.”

“Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

The Alexander McQueen fashion design house is part of the Gucci group of brands owned by French retailer and luxury goods group PPR.

American Idol’s newest judge, comedian and talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres made her debut at American Idol Season 9 Hollywood Week 1.

Some interesting talents but frankly, American Idol can only go downhill from the next season on if Season 9 is anything to go by. Here are some video highlights:

Celebrity power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have filed a lawsuit against the Hollywood celebrity gossip news rumors British newspaper News Of The World.

In a story published on January 24, the weekly newspaper reported that the couple planned imminently to separate and had agreed on how they would divide their assets and custody of their children.

Pitt, 46, and Jolie, 34, have six children and joint assets estimated by the News of the World at 205 million pounds.

In a statement, their lawyers said the News of the World failed to meet the couple’s “reasonable demands” for a retraction of the story and apology “for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets. We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done.”

The highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar has been knocked off its number one box office place by a little known, cheesy teenage romantic film, Dear John.

Starring Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia) and Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra) as war-torn lovers, Dear John garnered an audience that was 84 percent female and 64 percent below the age of 21. Never underestimate the power of teenage girls – look at The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The 2010 Razzies are out. This is one award that no one wants to show up to collect. Interestingly, among the worst actors is recent Golden Globe best actress winner and Academy Award nominee, Sandra Bullock who might make history as the only actress ever to receive all three awards.

Megan Fox will be the one to beat though, receiving double nominations for Worst Actress for her movies, Jennifer’s Body and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. In the past, Halle Berry, also a Best Actress Academy Award Winner, showed up to accept the Razzie for Worst Actress for her role in Catwoman.
